Practice

Giles Reid Architects is an RIBA Chartered Practice based in Kew, Richmond, serving London and the South West .

Giles was born and educated in New Zealand. He worked for seven years for Renzo Piano Building Workshop, in Paris and then London, and then for Matheson Whiteley as project architect for Stuart Shave Modern Art, Helmet Row, Clerkenwell.

He set up his own practice in 2016, with a practice focus on bespoke domestic projects and art spaces, including Stuart Shave’s Bury Street gallery, St James; The Clerk’s House for Emalin, and most recently, Sadie Coles HQ’s gallery on Savile Row, Mayfair.

The ambition is to create contemporary buildings and interiors with a straightforward, relaxed character, in which traditional construction is quietly expressed.

The work is integrated with ongoing research and writing, in particular on the work of several important but neglected New Zealand architects.
